how AMIGO searches for a word or a phrase. For example, when searching for a word or words, AMIGO attempts to first find the longest phrase that matches the source phrase.

Consider the words walk, walked, and walking. Each of these words shares the same root word - walk. Now, in AMIGO’s standard searching mode, if you enter the word “walking” as the source word, then chances are it will not be in the dictionary. But, the word “walk” is in the dictionary. By checking the “Search by prefix also” option in the options box, AMIGO will, as a last resort, try to match the prefix of a word with an entry in a dictionary. In this case, if the word “walking” is entered, and if the word “walk” is in the dictionary, a prefix match will occur, and walking will be translated as “walk.”
