Updated: 12 December 1997, 1127 hours The current version of Vea does not ship with diagram exporting to the desktop. For more information and latest versions, check our web site at http://www.aplanet.com Install the NewtonID.pkg or Load1st.pkg first. Install Veaxxx.pkg Install templates from the temp directory. Install the tempedit.pkg or template editor.pkg. -----------------Contact Information----------------------------------- Planet Computing, Inc. 2214B Braker Lane Austin, Texas 78753 USA (512) 832-8955 Voice (512) 832-6430 Fax internet: sales@aplanet.com (<- preferred...checked daily) URL: http://www.aplanet.com ftp: ftp://ftp.aplanet.com --------------------------Version History------------------------------ 1.0 - 3/28/96 * first public release 1.2 - 7/21/97 * Fixed for 2000 release. Soup entries now at 2.0 compliance. 1.2a - not released for beta use * Shape scripts draw properly * Popup windows save were last located to re-open there * Free Rotate removed for all objects and shapes, still broken * Rotation 90, 180, 270 removed until vector-based * Group objects removed until ungroup corrected 1.2b - expires 8/21/97 * Installed on web page * Coordinate text list, highlighted arrows, and template list view * Soup Deletion error fixed * Overview delete fixed 1.2c - 8/7/97 expires 9/11/97 * Object deletion within an object * Template name displayed when tap/hold on template bar includes Heap Space free-mem display, with garbage collect * delete entire "tree" of sub-templates * Will not open root diagram upon deletion of first child template 1.2d - 8/13/97 expires 9/11/97 * Install NewtonID registration stuff * Template Text List pulls off the template orginally intended, and is accurate after a resize * KAGI payment ($75 by web, $80, plus $8 shipping for boxed version. * Resubmitted to the web page, incomplete compile for earlier 8/13/97d. 1.2e - 8/25/97 expires 9/11/97 * Final version of 1.2 will require Newton ID for registration, unless a site license is purchased. * Registered users are receiving this by e-mail, new purchases will be sent updates through e-mail as they are available. * Cleaned up some heap use...(ongoing process) * Grouping and Ungrouping restored to application * Nudge will not nudge past the top or left of editor bounds, used to scroll up or left off of the editor * Grouped objects can be moved ONLY if selected. Singular objects can still be moved without selection. * Import under an object's detail puts that icon BACK into the template bar This was actually a part of Vea, but ran out of heap regularly. Still working on including templates within the template for typicals. This means that a computer with video card, hard drive, etc, will be place within the template bar as an empty computer. * Edit layers has been re-written to ensure correct representation of the names. * Trash sounds have been fixed. * Trash shapes error fixed. * Remove a template from a template list by a tap-and-hold on the template icon within the template button bar. It will bring up the regular icon editor, which has delete under the "action" button. (That little envelope-looking icon.) Import will not work since the icon already exists in the template list. No verification has been done to see if changes are saved back to the template itself if changes are made. * Tap and hold the little hand in the tools area to bring up the gross- movement screen. * Tap and hold the lasso in the tools area to bring up the object selector buttons. * Show all or some layers by checking the check boxes within the "edit Layers" selection within the "Layers" button on the top, right side of the screen. * If registered users would update us with their Newton ID name and the hardware serial number on their 2000's, we will email their registration code to them, so that upgrades can be downloaded from the web. * Template Editor (not to be confused with the editor screen in the Vea application) deleting icons fixed. I hated this error, so just had to fix it. 1.2f - 9/8/97 expires 9/20/97 * Typicals now supported for addition to the user template set. This permits multi-level templates, i.e. a computer template would have a network card, hard drive, modem, etc. and this can be reflected in the typical. Typicals have a "Typical" in the top of the template button. * A "T:" prefix in the template text list indicates a typical, as well. * Subtemplates are not shown. * Caret problem resolved by making the edit layer larger and floating the tools above it. * 48401 startup error corrected 1.2g - 9/22/97 expires 10/27/97 * Can now drag-n-drop typicals into object icons, and vice-versa. * Rotate of an object icon uses the original bitmap, and cannot be further rotated without skewing the bitmap, and forcing an "undo" by the user through the "Rotate Palette". * Changing displayed sets without sets loaded caused an error, corrected. * No displayed tag for an icon. Probably in 1.2h.(next feature addition) * Use the "Nudge Palette" to fine-tune positioning. 1.3b1 - 9/29/97 expires 11/27/97 * Rubberbanding * Icon Tags * Preferences update * Stationery bug wrappers, so non-standard stationery does not raise an error. 1.3b2 - 9/29/97 expires 1/6/97 * Page View w/icons to tell where you are in your diagram. This is preventing the release as I cannot get the pageview to synchronize with the icon rubberbands and group outlines. Still working on this...although it does work well at the 1:1 scale. :) * Zoom changed from 32 to 8, since at 8, so much information is lost as to be not worth the gain, may even go to 4. The zoom function is meant to be a CAD function, which of course has not yet been implemented. * No tags are displayed at small scales for the same reason as above. * Graph paper is not shown at smaller zooms for those reasons stated above. * Zoom errors fixed where it would raise an error going from one zoom to another. * Must hilight a group to move it. (I just keep reminding people of this.) * A group will display a border if tags are shown. * Tags are drag-n-drop, meaning that you do not have to create a "description" in the detail to get a tag. Just go to the annotation screen "A"-tool, and form a description of the item. Copy it to the clipboard. Select an editing tool for the layer. Drop the text onto the icon, and it will be displayed. Single objects can have their text edited. Grouped objects cannot. However, the annotation screen provides the normal Newton editing functions, providing ample space to create a description. Only groups and objects can accept text drops, not stationery and not shapes. I may add stationery drag-n-drop, but the mini-view synchronization with the rubberbands and group outlines still takes priority. * The "object selector" will activate the "Object" button. * "Gross Locate" renamed to "Page View" to correctly (again) identify the operation, since the "Gross Locate" wasn't a particularly interesting function, and now it is... 1.3b3 - 10/16/97 expires 1/6/97 * Drag-n-drop of text complete throughout stationery, shapes, objects, and groups. * Select and drag for all objects on the layer. * Selected shapes can now be dragged past screen bounds. * Added a "Clear All Links" in "Object" button to clear rubberbands for all selected links. * Mini-view tracks with screen properly. * "Zoom In/Out" changed to a more properly identified, "Scale Drawing" * "Page View" renamed to "Mini View" (are you lost yet? 8 >) * Icons not yet sizing properly from small scales. 1.3b4 - 11/7/97 expires 1/6/97 * Printing of entire diagram to however many pages it takes at full-size. Print title of diagram in right corner and annotation screen text. * Bug arose whereby the layers would not display if selected, fixed. 1.4 - 11/25/97 expires 1/6/97 * Single-page and multi-page document printing. * Text export to desktop, down to the annotation text and links. * Updated online documentation. 1.4.1 - 12/8/97 expires 1/6/97 * Newton must be loaded prior to running Vea, or you got a 48807 error. Now, it just gives an informative warning that NewtonID must be loaded. * Added Diagram linking within Diagrams. The Vea icon and the Diagram name are added to the template icon bar, and are deleted as diagrams are deleted. Select within the "Displayed Sets" window. 1.4.2 - 12/13/97 does not expire * Use faxes within the InBox as backgrounds for a Vea Diagram. The entry in the InBox is the source, but once an icon is dropped onto the Diagram, the bitmap is copied to the current Diagram's soup. Dropping text on the background template button on the template button bar will rename that button. The Prefs screen has a selection for adding new backgrounds from the InBox. Select the option in "Template Names" and it will re-confirm, and then add the buttons to the template button bar. To restore the background graph paper, select an object, and choose "Restore Graphpaper" in the Object button. * Vea no longer has an expiration date. The nagware screen is still active, and printing Diagrams will place a banner over the printed diagram. * Scrolling the "Displayed Sets" fixed. 1.4.3 - 12/15/97 does not expire * Print registration and -48221 error on action button corrected. 1.4.4 - 12/18/97 does not expire * Fixes -48402 error when moving shape objects * Adds dialog to confirm reset of graph paper background from fax back- ground. * Adds dialog to confirm clearing of rubberbanding on selected objects. *********************************************************************** Known Program Limitations: *********************************************************************** * Rotate shape inop due to the function being removed. * Vertical dimensions ghosted when displayed. * Template editor length and width settings for all new icons are defaulted to 32 x 32 pixels. These can be changed within the template editor. * Resize objects through tools. The length and width must be changed within the object detail view. * Resizing to 100% causing a redraw every time. The current set of templates were created for 72 dpi, and are displayed for 100 dpi. This is due to compatibility with the MP120 and MP130. * Shape attributes change will occasionally fail to update the palette "status". Still haven't tracked this down to its source, since it cannot be duplicated when testing. Not considered critical. --------------------Other Programs By Planet Computing, Inc.---------------- For Planet Computing's current list of programs and services visit our web site: http://www.aplanet.com o Mercury Service Dispatch, dispatch software using Notes across 93% of US o LinkPad, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) interface
